Safety on Ellchat
Practical steps for safer conversations, reporting harm and securing your account.
Effective and last updated: 23 August 2026Report a problem
Use Tickets & Support inside Ellchat and choose Safety report. Include the server/channel, people involved, approximate time and a concise explanation. You can also use reports.elliotj.xyz. Never include your password, authenticator secret or backup codes.
What happens next
A human reviewer assesses available context, urgency, applicable rules and previous relevant action. Ellchat may preserve evidence, restrict access, remove content, issue warnings, suspend accounts or escalate an imminent or legally reportable risk. Privacy limits what can be disclosed about action taken against someone else.
Account protection
- Use a unique password and enable 2FA.
- Store backup codes offline and never send them in chat.
- Block unwanted contact and leave unsafe communities.
- Report unexpected login activity immediately.
- Do not run code or open links sent by people you do not trust.
For users under 18
Do not share your home address, school, live location, private contact details or intimate material. Tell a trusted adult if someone pressures you, requests secrecy, asks for sexual content, threatens you or attempts to move the conversation somewhere less safe.
Our safety approach
Ellchat disables chat uploads, uses human moderation, permission-based communities, rate limits, audit history and reporting tools. These measures reduce risk but cannot eliminate it. The operator should maintain documented illegal-content and children’s risk assessments before and throughout public operation.
